The 18th of October 2009 will see the launch of the zine and an exhibition of illustration and photography by local artists, designers and food enthusiasts. A library of food zines will also be available for anyone to read for free.

What's in it for me?

Your artwork or photograph will be part of a two-month-long exhibition at the bohemian Mars Hill Cafe in Parramatta. You are encouraged to include your business card and/or contact details prominently alongside your work. An image of your work, a recipe and your contact details will also appear in the exhibition catalogue.

Your work will be for sale at a price that you choose; Mars Hill Cafe will receive a 20% commission on any artworks sold.

We will be profiling contributors and featuring their work on this website for the duration of the exhibition.

What do I need to do?

We welcome artworks and photographs based around the theme of "your parent(s)' recipes" or "cooking with your parent(s)". If you like food but don't think you are very artistic or vice versa, we strongly encourage you to team up with a friend to come up with a submission together!

You'll also need to provide us with a recipe, preferably one that is related to your image(s), to be printed in the exhibition catalogue. For $50 we can organise printing and framing of your digital work for you, or you can frame your own work. A size of 10" x 12" (25.4cm x 30.5cm) at 180dpi or greater is recommended.

As the event launch is part of the Sydney International Food Festival, your submission will receive preference if you reside in or were raised in the Sydney area.

What's due and when?

To express your interest in contributing or if you have any questions, please fill out our contact form.

For digital artwork and photographs we will require a $50 payment to cover the cost of printing and framing. All submissions for the exhibition are due by the 12th of October.
